The Reviews

The Samsung RF4287HARS 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator is receiving very strong reviews online. Whenever we review a product one of the first places we start our research is Amazon.com because they are one of the largest retailers around and they usually have a lot of user reviews on their website. The reviews on Amazon.com for the Samsung RF4287HARS were not as strong as we would like to see. There were 31 reviews with an average user rating of 3.6 stars. That is not a horrible rating but it is not as good as we would hope for. However, on other websites there were more reviews and the reviews were much better. For example, at Sears.com there were 61 reviews with an average user rating of 4.5 stars and at Bestbuy.com there were 123 reviews with an average user rating of 4.6 starts. As you can see, after we did a little more research we found that the reviews for the Samsung RF4287HARS 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator were quite good.

We’ll start with a few of the negative comments and get those out of the way before we tell you all of the things people like about this particular refrigerator. A few of the people that left reviews on Amazon.com said that their refrigerator broke down and stopped working after a few weeks but this refrigerator does have a one-year limited parts and labor warranty so they should be able to get things fixed. There were also a couple of complaints about noise with this refrigerator. Some people complained that the compressor was quite loud and some people also thought that the sound of the ice dropping from the icemaker into the ice bucket seemed unusually loud.

Now on to the good news. There were many, many positive reviews for the Samsung RF4287HARS 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator. Most reviewers were very happy with the large capacity of this refrigerator. One reviewer said that they are able to fit 56 cans of soda pop or beer into the drawer. People also like the fact that the drawer pulls out and there’s no need to open the door to the entire refrigerator to pull out a cold drink. A lot of people also commented on the ability to set a number of different temperature settings. I would also like to point out that a number of the positive reviewers commented on how quiet this refrigerator is even though some of the negative reviewers said the compressor was very loud.

After researching all of the reviews we could find online for the Samsung RF4287HARS 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator we found far more positive reviews than negative. The majority of people are very pleased with their purchase. They like the capacity, the design, the convenient location of the icemaker, the fact that the water filter is easy to change, the list goes on and on. We just got rid of ours. What a bad experience.

Avoid Samsung refrigerators. We were initially drawn in by the sleek design, LED lighting, and nicer features of this fridge. Knowing it had some more modern electronics, we purchased the 5 year warranty.

I’ll affirm the complaints about the ice maker noise. WOW this thing is loud when it dumps ice. It will wake you up from the other side of the house.

After about 6 months the water dispenser lever became difficult to operate. We learned to work around this by pressing hard on the upper portion. I had forgotten about the extended warranty and it wasn’t a major problem. Not a big deal.

After the 5 year warranty expired, it almost immediately began to fail in multiple ways. Perfect timing.

We noticed that the light on the snack drawer often came on when it shouldn’t. We thought it was due to a door open sensor. But this made no sense because the door open chime never activated. It was because the refrigerator side wasn’t cooling properly. The panel indicated that the temperature was correct. Yet a thermometer in the fridge section was reading mid-50’s. A quick search pointed to the fridge side evaporator fan. I confirmed that the fan was working, but replaced it anyway figuring it was worth a $23 investment to attempt a fix. No dice. The sensor or computer board is bad. So I ordered a new fridge evaporator coil with a plan of pulling the new sensors and installing them in the fridge. The day I was going to do that, the ice dispenser stopped activating and the ice was no longer hard frozen. At that point, I decided it was time to replace it because I didn’t want to invest in a repair just to have something else fail soon. Our local reputable repair man concurred with my opinion. In his experience, once they start to go bad, they go hard.

Other annoyances are they way the space is organized. It’s difficult to make use of most of the space in the fridge side. The ice maker is in the way in a major way. The shelves aren’t organized in a useful manner. Tall items are difficult to store. The freezer is a bottomless pit where items get buried and are difficult to dig out.

On the upside, parts are cheap. Good luck if you have one. If you haven’t bought one yet, best not.

It’s gone and I’m fairly annoyed that this fridge cost about $500 per year. Back to GE. Whirlpool is another good option.

Samsung makes good tablets and phones. Appliances and home entertainment systems? Not so much.

I agree with the post. We replaced 1 ice maker in year 4 and it was pretty easy and inexpensive. In year 5 the fridge temp got to 50 degrees. We call a tech and he ordered 2 controllers figuring it was at least 1 that was bad. He got the parts directly from Samsung. When he began the install the controllers did not have the same connection so no go. As far as we are concerned Samsung makes nice looking refrigerators but they are not well made. The tech shared many repair stories just in our area. My advice DO NOT BUY a Samsung refrigerator, not well made and plenty of problems ahead.
