One place to do some research is on the Consumer Reports website and according to them and their readers Cascade makes some of the best dishwasher detergents. Cascade makes claims that you don’t need to do any prewashing because their detergents are powerful enough to dissolve the food particles on your dirty dishes and for the most part, the people leaving reviews online agree.
Other brands that are getting good reviews are Electrasol, Finish, Lemi Shine and Glisten. For eco-friendly options Grabgreen, Biokleen, and Seventh Generation are all getting good reviews. Any of these brands would be a great choice because they all make excellent dishwasher detergents. If you’re choosing between any of these brands you may want to start looking at how much each one costs.
However it is important to keep in mind that the price on the box is not always the best indicator. You have to think about the amount of detergent to be used in each load and how many loads a package of detergent will be able to clean. Then you will know the cost per load and you will know which detergent is truly the best bargain.
Prices per load can vary quite a bit from one brand to another and they can even vary quite a bit from one product to another even if they are from the same brand. According to Consumer Reports for example Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs will cost approximately 39 cents per load while Cascade Complete All-in-1 Gel will cost about 20 cents per load. Both products are getting great reviews from customers but one is almost double the price of the other.
As we mentioned earlier, any of the brands listed above would make a great choice so just take some time to compare prices and you will find a great detergent at a great price.
